Instagram announced it will now allow video uploads up to 1-hour long, an increase from the current 60-second videos allowed. A move to go after YouTube and capitalizing on the behavioral trend of increased viewership of videos online and less television.

Known for superb photo editing tools, Instagram said it was launching IGTV – a new video feature for vertically shot videos and accompanying video tools.
Instagram now boasts 1 billion users per month, with parent Facebook having 2.2 billion users per month. YouTube, owned by Google, has 1.9 billion users each month.
