With the rise of texting and quick emails, writing skills have become lax. There are great online writing tools to help you check your quality, and even stay on task to speed up your writing!

We looked at dozens of tools to help writers  Here are three essential tools to help improve your content.

1. Grammarly

When it comes to writing, you can never have too much quality assurance. Grammarly works wherever you write from your blog to Google Docs, Facebook, and even PublishThis!  Grammarly offers a free browser extension that checks grammar and has a spellchecker. The paid version also provides word variations and checks sentence structure and voice.

2. Hemingway Editor

Use the Hemingway Editor to test your content for readability. The free app sums up how readable your writing is with a grade and then provides improvement suggestions. It detects passive voice, marks the number of sentences that are hard to read, counts adverbs (two or fewer is best), and provides simpler alternatives for phrases.

3. Cliché Finder

In general, it is best to avoid clichés. Writing well means being specific and overly used clichés detract from your content. Used to often,  Cliché Finder will highlight any clichés you may have used, giving you the opportunity to replace them replace them with more specific text.
